The parrotlet is a big personality in the parrot body. They are small creature with a small size measuring around five to six inches. The young ones weigh around slightly below thirty grams. Parrots are kept as pet birds by many people. Humans have seen the importance of rearing parrotlets in their homes. Parrots are intelligent birds which can be trained in various aspects as the family would wish. Parrots are very sensitive birds that notice everything going on in the compound. Parrots are very beautiful bird, and they transfer the beauty to the environment. The colors of a parrot are different depending on the species. The difference in color is brought about by the difference in the species. Some of the species of the parrots are expensive and rare to find. The most available color for the parrots is the blue color or the Pacific parrot. There is a variety of colors for the different species of the parrots. Species that are yellow in color are the ones that are very hard to find.
Thet have an amazing appetite that best suits them for their character. Since parrots are nutcrackers they love nuts which helps them exercise their beaks and make them strong. They like breaking the nuts and opening them to eat what is inside. They should be fed with a constant supply of natural supplements to aid them with their proper growth. Parrotlets require a lot of energy as compared to fully grown parrots which can feed on nuts and some other readily available food material for survival. Food with very high sugar content is not a good diet for the parrotlets and therefore should be avoided. Avoid also food with high-fat content as a feed for your parrotlets.
Reason as to why they are pet birds is because they need attention and care of man. Parrotlets, however, can grow up with little attention as it is capable of amusing a playing with itself. Fully grown parrots will require about ten minutes attention from their owners mostly for training. Parrotlets will feel comfortable in a cage with toys and other playful material provided there is enough space for play. These birds do well by themselves, and so they don’t need company. They can only feel comfortable in the company of their owners and other parrots. Their houses should be made separate to that of other pets.
The birds can easily get aggressive when they are provoked. They should be separated from the other pets to avoid fights that can occur. Kids and toddlers should not be allowed to disturb the parrots to avoid injuries. Parrotlets which have been fed by use of hand are very much gentle to everyone including the children.
